JOCELYN SCHNEIDER FOYE ‘99 + JEFF FOYE ‘97
CONTEMPORARY LOS ANGELES ARTISTS
Jocelyn Foye will debut a new work, Back Flip, for Widener Gallery that will be created at Trinity. Jocelyn’s work is based in the documentation of performances both public and private that have occurred. She is interested in the marks that people leave in the world as a result of these actions or performances. She has created a series of silicone rubber sculptural casts from actions that have taken place. The artist then exhibits these silicone casts alongside digital images from the original events.
Jeff Foye’s work is informed by his background in theater and dance. He began performing discrete actions from popular culture for the camera, to critique societal norms. Soon his interest turned to the documentation of the performative act. On view at Widener will be a series of video pieces that incorporate carefully edited sound and images to confront the familiar. Also on view will be, The Jeff Foye Collection, an ongoing project of items that have a physical relationship to artwork by well-known artists. Foye questions issues of authorship and intent with his collection of detritus, found, and acquired materials. Friday-Sunday: 1:00-6:00 p.m.
